Welcome to Nature's Treats Recipe Share.

The idea is for customers to share recipes they have made using locally available ingredients.  Small independent businesses need your support more than ever so lets show everyone what's available close to home and what you can buy from Nature's Treats.

  1. Grain Free Low Sugar Granola

    Thank you Clare for sending over this great granola recipe.  All the ingredients are available at Nature's Treats, mostly from our refill area so you only need to buy the amount you need! Most of our prodcuts are organic too so it's easy to make this super tasty, nutritionally packed granola recipe.

    Ingredients
    100g milled flaxseed
    80g raisins
    80g shredded coconut
    80g ground almonds
    80g chopped walnuts
    50g chopped brazil nuts
    50g chocolate chips
    3 tbsp coconut oil
    2 tsp vanilla extract
    2 tsp cinnamon
    2 tbsp agave syrup
    125g nut butter
    1 tbsp of tahini

    Method
    1. In a bowl mix together the milled flaxseed, raisins, shredded coconut, ground almonds, chopped walnuts, chopped brazil nuts and chocolate chips and set aside.

    2. In a saucepan slowly melt the coconut oil, vanilla extract, cinnamon, agave syrup, nut butter and tahini. Stir continuously over a low heat.

    3. Once melted pour over the dry ingredients and mix well.

    4. Spread the mixture out on a lined baking tray.

    5. Bake for 10 minutes at 180 degrees.

    6. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.

    7. Store in an airtight container.

    Notes: Organic ingredients are best and you can change the nuts for whichever you prefer and add seeds and other flavours to the basic recipe. This granola is perfect served with coconut yoghurt and fresh berries for breakfast or make into a bar for snacks. This recipe is so packed with protein, good fats and vitamins/minerals it will keep you going past lunchtime!

    It's the recipe I'm asked for most often so here it is to kick off the recipe share!  All the ingredients are available from Nature's Treats.

     

    Ingredients
    120g deodorised coconut oil
    400g dark chocolate
    120g golden syrup
    135g biscuits (I've made my own & used Rhythm double chocolate hazelnut cookies)
    75g vegan mini marshmallows

    Method
    1. Fill a medium size saucepan with about 4cm of water and bring to the boil.

    2. Place a heatproof bowl in the saucepan making sure it doesn't touch the water and lower the heat to a gentle simmer.

    3. Break up the chocolate and add to the bowl along with the coconut oil and golden syrup.

    4. Stir regularly until all the chocolate has melted.

    5. Remove from the heat and allow to cool a little before adding the rest of the ingredients.

    6. Break up the biscuits and add them to the chocolate mixture along with the marshmallows.  Stir well.

    7. Line a tin with parchment paper and pour the mixture into the tin, gently shaking to evenly distribute. You can use any size tin depending on what size and thickness you'd like the rocky road to be.

    8. Place in the fridge to set, this will take at least 1 hour.
